Biography
Arnaud HOUËL graduated in 1999 from the National Engineering School of Metz, where he concentrated on Materials Physics. From there he went to the Université Aix-Marseille, for a Masters in Physics in Nano-Materials and a Ph.D. (2000-2002) in Nano-Physics and Nano-Electronics for which he obtained the “Congratulations of the Jury”. The title of his thesis is: “Direct writing of nanoscale features assisted by STM and FIB”. His Ph.D.was performed in the French laboratory CRMCN (now CINAM) in Nano-Electronics group supervised by Slava SAFAROF. Ph.D. supervisors: Pr. H. DALLAPORTA; Pr. D. TONNEAU and Pr. P. SUDRAUD. His Ph.D. was based on two top-down approaches involving STM (Scanning Tunnelling Microscope) and FIB (Focused Ion Beam) setups to pattern metallic nano features by maskless direct writing processes. After his thesis, Pierre SUDRAUD proposed him to join the ORSAY PHYSICS team to work on the development of Optical and Ion Sources (LMIAS, GFIS, UHV Wien Filter, SIMS…). Since 2002 he has held several positions in this French Company including R&D Engineer, R&D project leader and Engineering Director. He is now in charge of external collaborations and the Innovation Committee. Since 2013 he teaches courses at the Masters II level at the University of Lyon, on the Optics of Charged particules.
